  • 82% of respondents, including a majority of smokers, think that smoking should be 86’d from VA restaurants. 53% of smokers and 89% of nonsmokers believe that smoking should be 86’d in VA restaurants.
  • 91% of respondents who dine out at least five times a month said that they would dine out more often or just as much if all restaurants were smoke-free.
  • 79% of Virginians who do not want smoking 86’d at restaurants said they would dine out more often or just as frequently if all restaurants were smoke-free.
  • For every Virginian that would dine out less frequently if smoking were 86’d from restaurants, five Virginians would dine out more frequently or just as often.
  • 73% of Virginians prefer to be seated in the nonsmoking section. Only 25% of people who do not think smoking should be 86’d in VA restaurants said they preferred to be seated in the smoking section.
